Tim's
Power Tips By Matt !
Power Tip
#1
Matt begins by opening his mail. When you're typing an
email and you want to send a web address, instead of typing
a loooooonnnnngggggg url, wouldn't' it be nice to just
embed a hyperlink to the webpage? It's so easy. Highlight
the link text, then go to your Edit menu and choose Add
Hyperlink.
Power Tip
#2
Finder Tip
Here is one cool tip Matt found: when you're in the icon
view in a Finder window, go to View and down to View
Options. Down at the bottom is Background. (This only works
on icon view.) Change colors for the background or choose a
picture! Friends will say "How'd you do that??" (Hint:
That's when you invite them to GreerMUG.)
Power Tip
#3
Finder can work a lot like your dock. In Finder's sidebar,
you can drop things like documents, utilities, or programs
you access a lot. Sidebar holds all sorts of things -
except maybe your car keys. Can't do that... yet.
Power Tip #4?
- Matt's like the Energizer bunny
Matt shuns Finder's Documents window. Is that a little
loathing I detect? He does everything in Spotlight. In
Spotlight, you have Spotlight Preferences. Here's some cool
settings. Go to System Preferences and choose Spotlight. It
shows you all the places Spotlight checks, but did you know
you can prioritize the search order by re-arranging the
order of these! For instance, Matt drags his images folder
to the top because he's searching for images all the time.
Power Tip #5?
- I didn't know Power Tips could count that high
One last bit of coolness from Matt: You know every
application has an icon. Did you know you can change your
icon picture? You can! Matt likes stars - like, in the sky,
not Jessica Simpson - bring up the More Info Screen. Choose
an image, copy and paste it right in there. It's as if Mac
had it designed that way all along!
Cool tips, thanks, Matt!!
