Tim's
Power Tips
Power Tip
#1
File Naming Tip
Tim has several files that he keeps organized by making the
date part of the file name. That can get tiresome banging
out those long names. (Tip within a tip: On a dialog box's
scroll bar, Option-Click does a "scroll-to-here.")
Typically, Tim's filenames look something like this:
FCN1st08252006morefilename.media. Ahhhhhhh! But if you'll
just click on one of the existing filenames you'll get a
starter file name in your Save As dialog box. Oh, look, now
we just have to change the part that needs updating. In
this case, it's the date that's embedded in the middle of
the filename. Keystrokes saved. World safe!

Quick Trip to the Preference Menu
Did you know you can get to the preferences dialog box for
one of those laptop function keys (like Volume Up) right
from the keyboard on the laptop? Oh yes, it's true! And
even better, Tim showed us all how to do it! Just hold down
the Option key while pressing the appropriate function key
and Viola! you are taken to the preferences window for that
function. Bam! Just like that.

iTunes Power Navigation
Let's say you've been shopping in iTunes like the shopping
maniac that you are, and you'd like to go back to an
earlier selection. Ohhh, there's no way to go back (weep,
wail), or is there?? In iTunes, create a new playlist, you
can name it whatever you like, Tim called his Wishlist.
Now, when there's a tune you might want to re-visit later
on, just drag it to your new playlist, Wishlist in this
case, and anytime you want, you can open up the Wishlist
playlist, and look! there's your previously viewed tune.
Cool!!
AND, Apple is looking out for you (or your wallet) because
each "Wishlist" song gives me the chance to purchase it
from the iTunes store. Just click on the Buy Song button.
