GreerMUG July 2007 Meeting Highlights

Welcome

Tonight's meeting was a summertime food and fellowship meeting. Great snacks - but don't trick Matt into eating the bleu cheese dip! We also changed things up a bit with some opening acts leading up to the main event: a demonstration of the new iPhone!

Opening Acts
Matt showed us PhotoStitch.
PhotoStitch comes free when you buy a Cannon product. Matt saw it and said, "I wonder what this PhotoStitch is?" PhotoStitch is a program that will take your photos and "stitch"them together oin a panoramic photo. Matt shows us. He opens three pictures of some distant mountains. They were taken with a little overlap. Cool. Overlapping photo areas gives PhotoStitch room to figure out how to p[ut these together. Matt chooses Merge and lets PhotoStitch do the rest. WOW! That was fast. Matt show us the results. PhotoStitch did a pretty good job! Remember, PhotoStitch comes with a purchase of a Cannon product.

Sometimes PhotoStitch needs a little help. You can manually specify the alignment points. Neat.

PhotoStitch will also do a matrix of photos.

Next up: Bill Harrison shows us a security program. Great app. Show Notes says, this is one you had to be here to see. It pays to attend!

Next: Alex Hyman shows us a cool photo trick.
Have any of us ever shot infrared film? No? That's okay, neither has Alex. Matt explains, infrared is the heat sensitive part of the light band. In PhotoShop, there's an infrared effect you can apply. Alex shows us how to do it. Cool.

Core Presentation
Our Core Presentation this month was the MAIN EVENT! An iPhone Demonstration!

For tonight's main event, Tim Godby gives us a demonstration of his iPhone. (See the crowd drool with envy.)

Tim gave us a great tour of the iPhone. A very visual experience. Once again, Show Notes reminds us, sometimes you just have to be there.

Super! We enjoyed the iPhone demonstration thoroughly. Good stories, too. Thanks, Tim!
